It was a Super Bowl at the 5th Annual Romeo Team Invitational… Anchor Bay girls become first ever two time winner over Chippewa Valley and Dakota Boys win clash with the Titans 

The Anchor Bay girls are the first ever two time winner and back to back winners in the history of the Romeo Team Invitational. They qualified seventh with a 2,897 and bowled well during the match play round defeating L’anse Creuse North, Lake Orion, Oxford, and runner up Chippewa Valley. The team: Kelsey Fader, Mariah Fasczcewski, Kayla Gregoire, Mikalee Bogue, Kristen Tyll, Alicia Marvinetz, and Emile Cline.

The Chippewa Valley girls qualified first with 3,110 and are the runner up at the 2012 Romeo Team Invitational. In the afternoon finals, they defeated Utica, Waterford Mott, and Richmond before falling to Anchor Bay in the championship match. The team: Sunshrae Heller, Kate Hojnacki, Jennifer Kelley, Kristen Powell, Ashley Yank, and Kristen Young.

The Richmond Girls are the third place finishers in 2012. They qualified fourth with a 2,997 and  defeated Royal Oak, Clarkston, and Oxford and finished in third place. The team: Heather Bruci, Kellie Gusumano, Payton Dickson, Samantha Conner, Mnoelle Scheuer, Morgan Conner, Rachelle Leonard, and Jolene Ureel.

The Oxford girls came in fourth place in the 2012 Romeo Team Invitational. They qualified eleventh with a 2,794 and  defeated East Detroit and Utica Ford II. The team: Heather Lafnear, Colleen Walters, Alex Logan, Allysa Delong, Brooke Harris, Caitlyn Wroblewski, Alyssa Hurlburt, and Elisa Atyeo.

The 2012 Romeo Team Invitational girls All-Tournament team is captained by Sarabelle Owens from Utica Ford II with best 2 of 3 game qualifying totals of 195 – 278 473. Also on the team is Samantha Gusumano from Dakota with 256 – 180 436; Casey Baryla from Lake Orion with 253 – 181 434; Amber Hoflich from Waterford Mott with 248 – 186 434; and Samantha Conner from Richmond with 213 – 214 427.

The Stevenson boys qualified first with a 3,601 and finished as the runner up at the 2012 Romeo Team Invitational. Austin Timmer provided excitement with a 300 game during qualifying. The Titans won matches against East Detroit, Clarkston, and Chippewa Valley before falling in the championship match to Dakota. The team: Austin Timmer, Matt Prybys, Tom Kopec, Steve Snyder, Scott Schultz, and Gordon Long.

The Stevenson “B” boys qualified third with a 3,461 and finished third in 2012. The Titans won matches against Troy, Royal Oak, and Chippewa Valley. The team: Ryan Dykas, Jacob Furtney, AJ Taormina, Kevin Matsui, Michi Dueterte, and Joey Aleo.

The Chippewa Valley boys medaled in fourth place in the 2012 tournament. They qualified fifth with 3,416 and won afternoon matches against Lake Orion and Oxford. The team: Hunter Loppolo, Paul Jurgelewicz, Stefan Panetta, Jeff Pietryka, Aaron Sanders, John Short, and Hunter Kaufman.

The 2012 Romeo Team Invitational All-Tournament team is led by Mike Jachcinski from Dakota with a best two out of three game set of 258 – 268 524. Also on the team in 2012: Austin Timmer from Stevenson with a 300 – 200 500; Joey Aleo from Stevenson B with a 266 – 224 490; Trevor Mackowiak from L’anse Creuse North with a 243 – 243 486; and Ryan Dykas from Stevenon B with a 226 – 258 484.

"Bring Your 'A' Game" - Romeo 5th Annual Singles Invitational Featured A Field Of Champions in 2011

High school athletes from southeastern Michigan descended upon Romeo to test their skills on the brand new synthetic lanes at Summit Sports Center. The popularity of high school bowling and the Romeo Singles Invitational resulted in a record participating field of 186 athletes. This year’s event  added divisions for Junior Varsity.

Once again, the competition was very intense and the quality of play was excellent. In boys varsity qualifying, Tylor Greene from Davison finished his four game set with a 300 and led all qualifiers with 1,014 ( 253.5 average); Jason McKelvey from Almont had 799 for his first three games and was second with 1,009 (252.3 average). Girls Varsity’s leading qualifier was Bryanna Mater of Sandusky with a 874 (218.4 average). Boys JV top qualifier was Tyler Hood from Utica with an 891 (222.8 average); Drew Pappas from Oxford finished with a 290 game and qualified 4th. The JV Girls were led by Elisa Atyeo of Oxford with a 759 (189.8 average).

Bryanna Mater from Sandusky wins the 2011 Varsity Girls Title outlasting Emily Brown from Davison in the championship match. Also medaling were Teagan MacDonald from Kearsley, Jessica Dawes from Kearsley, Chyanne Hibbs from Kearsley, Justice Schihl from Lapeer East, Ashley Yank from Chippewa Valley, and Heather Baur from Davison.

Jeff Pietryka from Chippewa Valley wins the 2011 Romeo Singles Boys Varsity championship and Jason McKelvey from Almont finishes as the runner up. Earning medals were: Aaron Sanders from Chippewa Valley, Blake Harman from Davison, Shane Barthlow from Anchor Bay, Joe Mazza from Utica, Alex Smith From Kearsley, and Andrew Venturini from Utica.

Alyssa Hurlburt from Oxford won the Junior Varsity Singles Championship outpacing Keri Molloy from Sandusky. Medaling were Elisa Atyeo from Oxford, Stephanie Chizmadia from Oxford, Kayla Rziemkowski from Romeo, Sierra Slade from Dakota, Haley Holeton from L’anse Creuse North, and Rachel Kitchens from L’anse Creuse North.

Tyler Crescenti from L’anse Creuse North is the 2011 Junior Varsity Champion and Brandon Alexander from Anchor Bay is the runner up winner. Also receiving medals were Andrew Watts from Dakota, Trevor MacKowiack from L’anse Creuse North, JohnWierzbecki from Utica, Jake Bonacorsi from Dakota, David Lynn from Utica, and Mike Michalski from L’anse Creuse North.
